Week 1: Grounding & Safety – "Rooting Into Stability" (April 6)
🌱 Like seeds anchoring into the earth, we have to cultivate safety as the foundation for growth.
Feeling safe in the body is the first step to nervous system regulation. In this class, we will explore how grounding affects movement, perception, and emotional resilience. Through weighted movements, deep pressure techniques, and connection to support surfaces, we reinforce a sense of stability and safety within.
Class Flow:
Educational (5-10 min): Discussion on how safety and grounding impact the nervous system.
Somatic Practice (20 min): Weighted movements, deep pressure, and slow, intentional exercises to reinforce stability.
Yin Flow (30 min): A grounding sequence with longer holds and options to integrate somatic grounding techniques.
Week 2: Breath & Sensory Awareness – "Expanding the Breath" (April 12)
🌬️ Spring winds remind us that breath is a force of change and renewal, and it's one we often neglect.
Breath is a direct line to the nervous system and can shift our state in an instant. This week, we explore how breath impacts regulation and movement, and how sensory awareness deepens our connection to the present moment. We'll work with co-regulation, extended exhales, and playful breathwork to engage our senses and refine awareness.
Class Flow:
Educational (5-10 min): The role of breath in nervous system regulation and sensory awareness.
Somatic Practice (20 min): Co-regulation exercises, extended exhales, and breath-led movement.
Yin Flow (30 min): A breath-focused yin sequence with options to integrate breath-based somatic practices.
Week 3: Micro-Movements & Subtle Awareness – "Unfolding with Ease" (April 19)
🌿 Just as buds slowly unfurl, we explore small shifts that create profound changes.
Subtle shifts in movement and awareness can have a profound impact on the nervous system. This week, we explore micro-movements and how they allow us to recalibrate patterns of tension, stiffness, and stress (aka rewire our brains). Through slow, controlled movements, we will awaken deeper layers of awareness and refine our ability to move with ease.
Class Flow:
Educational (5-10 min): Understanding how micro-movements (and thoughts) shift patterns and nervous system responses.
Somatic Practice (20 min): Exploring micromovements to enhance ease, release tension, and refine awareness.
Yin Flow (30 min): A gentle yin sequence incorporating subtle engagement and exploration of micro-movements.
Week 4: Expressive & Intuitive Movement – "Creating Space" (April 26)
🌸 Spring invites expansion—moving beyond constraints and embracing joyful expression.
Nervous system healing isn’t just about stillness—it also includes play, spontaneity, and movement that allows for self-expression. This week, we explore movement as a form of release, healing, and joy. By engaging in expressive and intuitive movement, we allow the body to create space for emotional processing, playfulness, and lightness.
Class Flow:
Educational (5-10 min): The role of intuitive movement and expression in nervous system regulation.
Somatic Practice (20 min): Free-flow movement sequences, playful exploration, and gentle shaking.
Yin Flow (30 min): A yin sequence with space to incorporate expressive movement elements.
